When to Stop Crate Training
We are big believers of using your crate for your puppy through out its entire life. It is a place of safety and comfort to your puppy very similar to a “den” or “cave” that dog’s would live in if still in the wild. As I can trust my puppy to have more freedom, I might limit their crate time and give them more freedom. Think of it similar to moving a baby from a crib to a big boy bed! I still recommend putting puppy into the crate periodically so they can remember that it is a safe place. You never know when you might need to put your dog in a crate as they get older and you need to remind them that it is a safe and happy place. If puppy has a setback in training, I always recommend resetting their crate experience.
