Puppy Tips

Helping Your Dog Stay Calm in the Car

We are back with another helpful blog from Baxter and Bella. At Colonial Village Labradoodles we care a lot about your pup and their experience with travel. We daily take our puppies on drives to help them adapt to car travel so that they don’t experience sickness by the time they go home with you. In their blog that you can access here, Baxter and Bella suggest starting out with short drives, practicing “place” or “settle” at home to help keep them calm when they go for a ride, and being mindful of keeping your own energy calm. A few things to stay away from during these rides include scolding, rolling the window all the way down (this could make them more anxious and overstimulated), and making sure to not rush your dog. Patience will carry you and your pup a long way!

Be on the lookout for our next baxter and Bella blog as we will discuss what leashes we should use with our four legged friends, and if there is an effective way to use a retractable leash. Be sure to visit Baxter and Bella’s page, check out this blog for more tips, and don’t forget that here at Colonial Village Labradoodles we offer a 25% off promo code when you shop with Baxter and Bella: CVL25.

As always, feel free to contact our trainers with any questions or to set up a training session!

About CVL

Colonial Village Labradoodles is Indiana’s premier labradoodle breeder. We raise multi-generational Australian Labradoodle and Australian Bernedoodle puppies with a purpose. Our dogs are bred for their therapy-oriented temperaments and allergy-friendly coats.

What is a multi-generational Australian Labradoodle?

Multi-generational Australian Labradoodles are a cross between many different parent breeds. The breed originated in Australia in the 1980s with the intent of creating an allergy-friendly service dog for the blind. Australian Labradoodles are a combination of a Poodle, Labrador Retriever, English Cocker Spaniel, American Cocker Spaniel, and Irish Water dogs. These breeds were hand-selected for specific breed qualities to create the ideal service dog for those with allergies. Since then, the breed has continued on and spread across the world. Australian Labradoodles are now considered their own breed with its own breed clubs (ALAA and WALA).
