Australian Labradoodles are an allergy-friendly, non-shedding breed of dogs. Unlike other breeds, they actually have hair and not fur. This is wonderful news for people like myself who have lots of allergies. But because they don’t shed they need to be brushed and seen by a groomer regularly. At-home maintenance is a must for this breed. Brushing your dog regularly will prevent matting in between grooms and make for a happier dog. I recommend a wide-toothed comb for puppy coats and the Doodle Brush for adult coats. A good comb or brush is a must-have for any doodle owner. A good brush may seem pricey but it is a wise investment. And once you have one you should have it for life. I recommend brushing your dog from front to back, top to bottom at least once a week.
Other things I recommend having on hand are a toothbrush and dog toothpaste for fresh breath and good oral hygiene. I also recommend blunt-nosed scissors and nail clippers for those in-between times.
