Fourth of July Tips for Your Pup!

The Fourth of July can be a fun and festive time for people—but for dogs, it can be stressful. Fireworks, large gatherings, and changes in routine can cause anxiety or accidents. Here are a few simple tips to help keep your pup safe and calm during the holiday week:
1. Prepare a Safe Space
Create a quiet, cozy area inside your home where your dog can retreat during fireworks or parties. Add blankets, favorite toys, or a sound machine to help muffle loud noises. Their crate or designated space would be a great spot for them to hang out in!
2. Keep Dogs Indoors During Fireworks
Even the calmest dog can bolt if frightened. Make sure your dog is indoors before fireworks begin, and keep windows and doors closed.
3. Exercise Early in the Day
Get a good walk or play session in the morning before festivities start. A tired dog is a more relaxed dog!
4. Update ID Tags and Microchips
Make sure your dog’s microchip is registered. While we don’t like to think about of furry friend potentially getting lost or bolting, it is important to stay on top of their ID tags, especially during this 4th of July week.
5. Avoid Feeding Table Scraps
Barbecue food and party treats can upset your dog’s stomach—or be toxic. Stick to dog-safe treats!
By planning ahead, you can help your dog feel more comfortable during the celebrations and keep them safe all week long!

What is a multi-generational Australian Labradoodle?
Multi-generational Australian Labradoodles are a cross between many different parent breeds. The breed originated in Australia in the 1980s with the intent of creating an allergy-friendly service dog for the blind. Australian Labradoodles are a combination of a Poodle, Labrador Retriever, English Cocker Spaniel, American Cocker Spaniel, and Irish Water dogs. These breeds were hand-selected for specific breed qualities to create the ideal service dog for those with allergies. Since then, the breed has continued on and spread across the world. Australian Labradoodles are now considered their own breed with its own breed clubs (ALAA and WALA).
