A puppy under the tree wrapped in a wiggling box… or a puppy with a giant red bow on it running to greet his new child… Sounds like a Hallmark moment doesn’t it? In theory, this is is a great idea. A puppy makes a great gift is the thought but the reality is that getting or giving a puppy on Christmas Day is truly an idea full of stress.

It sets a puppy relationship up for failure. The Humane Society reports that the highest number of pets surrendered for adoption are the weeks after Christmas and Easter. The present that seemed like a great idea in present planning is a living, breathing, non potty trained animal! Puppies can get lost in the hustle and bustle of presents, gift wrapping, mutlple visitors to the home, etc.

This year as in years past, Colonial Village Labradoodles will have presents for under the tree for families to open. We will have toys, treats, training tips, and lots of photos of the parent dogs and puppies. Build excitement, prepare for your puppy, and give the kids time to dream about their new pet. A puppy is not a one day present but truly the gift that keeps giving.

Contact us to be placed on one of our December puppies. We have confirmed pregnancies!
