Rooster is our 12-week old, gorgeous, black male labradoodle in-training. He works hard every day to please his trainers at Bradley Phifer Dog Training. Periodically, Brad’s team will give us a report card that updates us on how his training is coming all. Here’s today’s update:
“Today we let Rooster lounge around the training room with his pal’s Spectre and Ripley. We are making sure he can perform his skills in a more in-home setting as well as working on potty training. We are spraying bitter apple on items of interest and keeping an eye out to make sure he’s not getting into anything. He is doing a nice job of self-soothing, whether playing with a toy or curling up to take a nap. We are taking him out to the potty every 30 to 60 minutes when he is free with us and watching for signs of having to go while he’s out with us, I.E., disengaging with us, or getting up to sniff around the door, or other areas.
We are continuing to work with Rooster on his basic obedience skills in an in-home setting also, his stay and recall responses while playing with his friends. He is doing a great job of responding to leave-it when interested in something he shouldn’t be and sitting back and waiting for our attention if he starts to invade our personal space. He is holding stays working up to 45 seconds and is happily trotting over when we call for him.”
