Nature’s Recipe has recalled a number of their dog treats. Recalls are always a deep concern for me. Dog food companies change recipes and it can wreck havoc to dog’s digestive cycles and can even cause death. When at all possible, we make our own home made dog treats. Next weekend, the girls are making dog treats to sell at our church’s amazing holiday bazaar- Chica Boutiqua!
We tried some recipes out and are proud to announce they are labradoodle approved. Please join us Saturday, Oct 27 from 10-4 at Chica Boutiqua at Zionsville Presbyterian Church on the corner of 116th and Michigan Rd for yummy treats for your puppy or try making some on your own. One of our recipes is below!
Peanut Butter Dog Treats
1/2 cup water (add more later if needed for consistency)
1/2 cup oil
2 eggs
3 Tablespoons of peanut butter
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 cups of flour
1/2 cup whole wheat
1/2 cup of oats
Blend wet ingredients together. Whisk dry ingredients together, mix into wet ingredients, and form a ball of dough.
Roll out and cut with cookie cutters (we used a dog bone) and bake on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet for 20 minutes in a 400 F oven. Turn off oven and allow cookies to cool in oven until crisp and hard.
Store in airtight container. May be frozen, too. Allow to thaw before serving if frozen.
