Labradoodle Breeder

Hello Mindi,

labradoodle referenceMurphy is 3 months old today! He is getting to be such a big boy and gets cuter every day. He now weighs 16 pounds.  I was a bit concerned about him being so down and depressed his first week or so with us, but he is doing great now!  He just needed to adjust to his new family and home. We just adore the little guy.  He is such a good puppy and so loving.  I attached some pictures that I took of him today. He has the prettiest color coat, and is so soft and cuddly.

labradoodle puppyHis potty training is going well.  Only one accident in the last 10 days.  We have found a way to gently address his puppy nipping and biting, and he has responded well.  However, he has a thing for nylon sports shorts.  Whenever one of our kids is wearing them, he goes crazy and jumps up on them and tries to nip at the shorts! He's always doing silly things like that.

He sleeps 7 - 8 hours through the night.  He usually wakes up at around 7am and barks to let us know.  After I take him outside to do his business, I sit on the floor in the kitchen, he crawls into my lap and curls up into a ball, and I pet and rub him.  I call this our "snuggle time."  Shortly after that, my kids and husband file into the kitchen one by one and he expects everyone to be as excited to see him as he is to see them.  He is also extremely friendly and social with people outside of our family.

labradoodlesWhen we are outside, like at the park or on a walk, he expects everyone that comes within 10 feet of him to stop and pet him! He'll bark and wag his tail until they do so. Then he'll lick them, wag his tail even faster, and sometimes even lay on their feet. We started dog training class yesterday.  The other dog owners were complimenting us on what a good boy he was at class:)

We are so blessed to have found you on-line. Thank you again for all of the work that you and your family do to provide families like ours with such wonderful puppies.

Take care,
Julie and Brian

My Florida babies!

labradoodles Dear Mindi,

We finally got the Colonial Village Labradoodle Gang together for a picture. They were very excited to see and greet each other and played a long time. It was challenging to get them all to sit still for a split second and this is the best picture of the three.
As you know we basically all live on the same street and got together for a Labor Day cookout.
Romeo is now 3 months, Buddy just turned 1 yr, and Indy will be 2 in October. Enjoy!

Sincerely,
Robin

This is Colt, a Missy puppy.

labradoodle referenceThe family has become very special to me in the last few years and I am so thankful for them for believing in our labradoodles and their trust in me. Pam and I have become friends through the years and I asked her to send a picture of Colt for my blog. Pam and I run into each other all of the time- getting pedicures, at Target, at school, at Football practice. Our lives converge regularly and I could not be more thrilled. Love you, Pam!

Hey Mindi- It was good to see you briefly yesterday. It is hard to believe that Colt has turned one!! We have enjoyed him so much since the day we brought him home. Everyone who stops by the house is immediately in love with him. He still enjoys his daily walks to school to visit with all the children. I hope to bump into you again soon. Stop by anytime for a visit!!

labradoodle Mindi,

Here is a photo of Skye, Cassie’s sister. She also turned 1 year old in August. She is doing great! Her mama is so proud of her! They enjoy going for their evening walks.

She is always getting stopped by people asking about Skye while they are admiring her. You did a great job of raising these babies, Mindi! Thanks Again from Illinois.

labradoodlesMindi,

We just wanted to drop you a note and let you know how much we are enjoying Kona. He is now 6 months old and we think he is about done growing (22 lbs.). He is all boy and he gets compliments quite often on his beautiful red coat, his mannerisms, and especially how smart he is! He enjoys riding in the car and going on walks. He even has a unique “yawn” in the morning or when he awakes from a nap! He has a slight “howl” as well and loves to greet us with it we when arrive home. (it’s like he is talking to us!)

He loves his brother and sister (sister shown in picture) and loves to play with toys and fetch. He is even learning to catch things! He especially likes to watch TV and is easily entertained with what is on.

We now notice other Labradoodles when we are out and several of them are from Colonial Village. Thanks again for choosing Kona for our family. We wouldn’t trade him for the world!

A Letter from Margaret...
Dear Mindi,
I keep meaning to write you to tell you how special "Indy " is. He is getting bigger every day and I would guess he's weighing in at about 30 pounds now.

I just wanted to thank you. He is a very special addition to our family. I'm not sure who loves him most, we are all so taken by him.

I will have one of my children email a picture (not my expertise) so you can see how perfect he is!!!

Thanks again Mindi,
Margaret

I hope you and your family are well. The current dogs on the website are adorable...

A Letter from Kelley...
We bought our dog in October 2008 from Colonial Village Labradoodles. Our experience was more than we expected. Mindi was very professional, trustworthy, and knowledgeable. She answered all of our questions with honesty. I have called Mindi often with questions and she is more than willing to take the time to answer them all. She gave us very helpful hints for when we brought the puppy home. Our puppy is now 30 pounds of love. He is wonderful. He gets along well with our four small children. He is now a member of our family.

A Letter from Wanda...

labradoodle pupI am so happy to be able to offer a letter of reference for Mindi McMillan and Colonial Village Labradoodles!

As someone that has recently gone through the process of deciding to add a puppy to our home, I hope that Ican offer some insight into working with Mindi and CVL. When my husband and I first contacted Mindi, we were still deciding if we wanted the responsibilities of owning a puppy.

Mindi was very patient as she listened to us and offered her guidance in helping us feel comfortable with our decision.

She listened to our concerns about dog ownership and gave us honest answers. She also asked enough questions to make sure that we were
prepared to take proper care of our new addition. I had done so much research on the internet, learning about the breed and interviewing breeders on the phone and in person.
Once we met Mindi, her family and her dogs, we knew we were in the right place!

Our puppy, Sydney, is now just over 7 months old and we are so pleased with her! She has been such a welcome addition to our family and
has given us so much joy and pleasure! Our kids are ages 17 and up and they will stop by our house, just to visit with Sydney! When we go out
of town, we don't have to worry about who watches her. Everyone loves her and there are plenty of volunteers.

She has been so easy to train and her temperament is just amazing! She listens intently to us and is so willing to please. We started puppy classes
right away and realized how smart she was as she learned so quickly in class, that the trainer used her when she demonstrated new techniques!

Sydney is just so easy and we love her patience, her personality, and her termperament. Everyday, we are just amazed by her in some way!

I truly believe that Sydney is evidence of Mindi's hard work and dedication to breeding Australian Labradoodles with health and temperament as her main goals. We are so happy that we found Mindi and made the decision to bring Sydney into our home.

A Letter from Greg, Martha, and Marlee...

marlee picOur girl, Marlee, is a standard size chocolate Australian Labradoodle. She’s 9 months old now, and she is more than we ever hoped for. It wasn’t long after we made our decision to buy a puppy from Colonial Village Labradoodles that we knew we had made a great choice. Everything about Mindi and CVL exudes competence, professionalism, and absolute dedication to one goal – breeding beautiful dogs of exceptional health and temperament.

Mindi is passionate about her work, and pays close attention to every detail. She is not a casual “backyard breeder”. She is serious about breeding great dogs, and clearly knows what she’s doing. We are strong supporters of responsible dog ownership, and we were particularly happy to see how seriously CVL takes the process of placing their dogs. Getting a puppy is a serious, long-term commitment, and CVL took all the right steps to make sure we were ready to provide a safe, healthy, and permanent new home to our puppy.

Mindi interviewed us extensively, and then hand-picked the right puppy from her litter based on our style, our home environment, and the puppy’s temperament – and she nailed it. Marlee is a perfect match.

We waited anxiously for Marlee’s birth just like all new parents, and were thrilled to get pictures of our new family member (and her brothers and sisters) when she was just a few hours old. CVL kept us updated as Marlee grew through her first weeks, until finally we got to meet her once she had all her necessary vaccinations. The next few weeks were the hardest, as we couldn’t wait to bring Marlee home.

When the big day finally came, Mindi spent lots of time with us to help us prepare for our new addition. Marlee made the transition very smoothly. Housebreaking was a breeze thanks to all the prep-work CVL had already done. We quickly noticed that Marlee is one smart puppy! Working with her has been notably different than dogs I have worked with in the past. She is highly intelligent and learns new behaviors very quickly.

She is also highly creative in getting into trouble – though she has never been at all destructive. We recently left Marlee with a professional trainer for the weekend while we were out of town. When we got back, Marlee got a glowing review, and the trainer told us she was one of the smartest dogs she had ever seen – high praise from someone who trains dogs for a living. We give all the credit to Mindi and CVL.

As Marlee has reached nearly full size, she is healthy and beautiful. Hardly a day goes by when someone doesn’t comment on what great-looking dog she is. But best of all is her temperament – intelligent, sweet, loving, gentle, and fun. She loves to play, and is great around people. We are excited about her potential as a therapy dog. Mindi and CVL continue to be a resource to us, always available to give advice, answer questions, and share stories.

As you can tell, we had a fantastic experience with Colonial Village Labradoodles, and we would highly recommend them to any dog lover who is serious about being a responsible owner, and is ready for a wonderful new companion.

Best Regards,

Greg, Martha, and Marlee

A Letter from Nicole and Tige....

Working with Mindi McMillan and CVL has been a great experience. We had a negative experience with a different breeder in the past so we were a little skeptical about adopting another dog. Mindi was there for us every step of the way. None of our questions went unanswered no matter how trivial they may have seemed.

She made us feel comfortable throughout the entire process from finding the right crate to determining our vet. Mindi took the time to help us determine what we were looking for in a puppy and matched us with the best Labradoodle in the world. By getting to know us better, Mindi was able to match our new puppy’s personality to our family’s lifestyle.

Shadow is not just a dog in our house he is a member of the family. He is smart, lovable, gentle and excellent with our children (ages 5 to 13). We are constantly getting wonderful feedback from our vet and his puppy trainer. We highly recommend Mindi and CVL if you are considering adopting a Labradoodle

A Letter from Elizabeth....

Hi Mindi,

I hope you are doing well! I was just thinking of you and wanted to drop you a quick note on Lucy. Lucy is doing so well. She has now been to two puppy classes and has mastered the art of sitting and staying. She is such a quick learner!

She enjoys playing fetch and finds humor in dropping her toys down the stairs and then barking for me, as she knows she is not allowed on the steps. Lucy has continued to sleep through the night from the day I brought her home and is absolutely perfect when it comes to going into her crate. I seriously could not have asked for a better puppy.

She is perfect for me. You really do know how to place puppies in homes that are the right match for both the puppy and the family. I only wish I had listened to you the first time I met Lucy! Lucy has an amazing personality and is such a joy.

Everyone who meets her falls head over heels in love with her from the instant they lay eyes on her. I even have friends who have never liked dogs enjoy being around Lucy. I would honestly recommend anyone who is interested in a puppy to talk to you. I can’t even begin to tell you how much of a help and wonderful resource you were for me as I bought my first puppy on my own. I know I probably overflowed your email box on a daily basis with questions, but your knowledge and passion of the breed is amazing!

If you are ever in my area, you should definitely stop by to see how she has grown. I have attached some updated pictures of Lucy.

I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas!

A letter about Ivy and Dooley...

Dear Mindi,

Just was thinking of you and family.Thought you would enjoy the latest photos of our precious companions. They love to have our four grandkids visit. It is instant attention for all.

The winter snows were so fun for them, as they chased each other almost to exhaustion. What a sight, especially Dooley getting covered like a snowball. He’s my best Buddy and loves to be held with his head on my shoulder just like a baby. At 20 lbs that is a toddler-like lap full of soft curls.

Irwin is all about Ivy; her coat is so light and soft, what an Angel. She is tipping the scales at 16 lbs now and could live on tummy rubs all day and night long. In August her nose started to change from all black to a rose color with a black outline. Thought it might change back once the sun time increased with longer daylight, but it seems to have changed for good. It is really cute. Does this sometimes happen with the breed?
They are both so absolutely charming.

We love them so!!!
Take care,

Love to you all,
Irwin and Donna

A Letter from one of our new puppy homes...
Alicia G. in Texas

labradoodlerefpicMindi,

I'm sorry that it has taken so long for me to send you these. Below are the pictures of when Katrina first arrived to our house with the prize!! We are all loving our little boy so much and feel like he's really a part of the family. He is such a wonderful dog with a loving personality and is doing very well all around.

Our vet is taking great care of him and he's up to date with everything. We are working on encouraging good behavior by giving him a reward kibble just for sitting quietly or coming when we call. He seems to respond very well to this. He's doing his potty outside nicely with occasional inside accidents (usually because I should've
taken him out sooner). He sleeps in his crate by me all night now and has not had an accident in the crate yet!!

We couldn't be happier and truly love him to pieces. All of the boys' classmates and teachers know all about Ben! They like for me to bring him out to the car and show him off to everyone in the carpool when they get dropped off in the afternoon. Get ready - you may be getting some calls from our Texas friends!!!

Please let us know if you are visiting Texas. We would really like to see you! Thanks for providing us with such a precious companion. We are truly grateful to have him in our lives. I will send more pictures as he grows.

Many thanks,
Alicia, Monroe, Thomas & Charles

Yet another letter from one of our new puppy homes...

Cindy M.
Zionsville, Indiana

labradoodlerefpicBlessed. That’s about the best word to describe how we feel about adopting Tucker from Colonial Village Labradoodles. Mindi and Kyle and their six children lavish the puppies with love and care and when they say the dogs and pups are pets first and breeding prospects second, you can count on it.

Mindi has a sixth sense about the puppies and the perspective families and does all she can to match lifestyles and personalities to the traits she sees in the puppies. She went out of her way to make sure we had the match that would work for us.

We are lucky enough to live just a few miles from the McMillan’s so we have seen first hand the beautiful home in the country where the puppy moms and puppies are part of the family. Depending on the time of day, one or more of the moms will be sauntering around the house, stopping for a hug from one of the McMillan clan. The puppies spend their early weeks housed in the “nursery” before being moved out to the playpen in the screen room where their days are spent snoozing with occasional romps in the yard with the kids.

Mindi is on a mission with her dogs. She knows what a difference they can make in people’s lives and she does everything she can to assure she breeds healthy, well adjusted puppies. It is obvious that much time and care has been given to socializing Tucker as he is so mellow he even slept through 4th of July fireworks! As first time puppy parents, we were more than a little apprehensive about training and caring for the little guy. Mindi has been patient in guiding us through these first few weeks.

This couldn’t have been a more pleasant experience and we’d recommend a puppy from the McMillan’s without hesitation.

Another pleased owner of a CVL Labradoodle Puppy...

Mr. and Mrs. M.
Parents of Carolina and Raleigh
Indianapolis, Indiana

It is with pride and a sense of honor that we endorse Colonial Village Labradoodles. Mindi McMillan is a dedicated producer of authentic Australian Labradoodles. Our quest for a pet with hypoallergenic, nonshedding qualities led us to CVL, and Ms McMillan assisted us with selecting a puppy that met our specific characteristics. As a result of
the success of that venture, we returned to Colonial Village a year later and adopted a second Labradoodle. Ms McMillan ensures each Labradoodle offered for adoption possesses the highest levels of physical, medical, and social traits. Her customers receive a 2-year guarantee of health to reinforce the assertion that all of Colonial
Village's Labradoodles have exceeded Ms McMillan's rigid preadoption screening regimen. Additionally, she implants a microchip and spays/neuters each puppy provided for adoption. Those and similar services Ms McMillan provides illustrate why Colonial Village Labradoodles is distinctive among the premier North American breeders.
